 Al-ʿUla is a city in northwestern Saudi Arabia and the largest  archaeological site containing a wealth of history surrounding its  ruins, some dating back more than 2,000 years. It’s the largest  settlement of ancient civilizations and has many ruins relating to the   Minaean, Dedanites, Nabataeans and Lihyanite civilizations. Al-ʿUla,  which was once a major city for trade, located on the incense and spices  route, has become a popular tourist destination for exploring its ruins  and enjoying the expanse of the surrounding mountains.
 The historical, archaeological and aesthetic landscape of Al-ʿUla is rarely seen in any other city.

Mada'in Saleh

 The archaeological site of Al-Hijr (or Mada’in Saleh or Hegra) was the  first UNESCO World Heritage for Saudi Arabia. The site is the second  largest Nabatean settlement dating back to the First Century CE. Today  it is considered one of the most prominent ruins in Saudi Arabia and a  popular tourist site, given its title. Mada’in Saleh contains 131 huge  rock-cut tombs from the Nabatean kingdom. The site is on a beautiful  desert landscape set on part of the Hijaz mountains.

 In Mada’in Saleh you will find a train station that is part of the  Ottomon railway network and linked Damascus to Medina through the Hejaz  region. The train line cut through the Arabian Peninsula from the center  of Turkey, crossing Sham and then heading to the land of pure prophecy  Medina, the second holiest city in Islam.
It is one of the major  pilgrimage stations. The site contains an ancient Islamic fortress with a  camel's well in the center. There is also an old pool, five wells lined  with stones and numerous railway buildings constructed with limestone.

 Mada’in Saleh is an important site with a number of majestic ruins  including Qasr al-Farid, one of the most important and iconic tombs  standing four stories tall. The intricate carvings on its beautiful  façade is notable, and it’s considered one of the most famous Nabataean  tombs. It is called Al-Fareed as it was carved out of a single rock.

 It is one of the most important archaeological sites in Ula, which  consist of hills representing the ruins of accumulated stone buildings,  in addition to a circular stone basin known locally as Mahlab al Naqa.  Khuraybah contains a huge collection of carved tombs, the most prominent  being the Lion Tombs that are characterized by the carvings that look  like lions.
